The Glass Castle
I am starting to realize that Jeannette’s parents can be supporting their kids well. For an example: Jeannette’s dad, when he is not drinking, he captures his children's imagination, teaching them physics, geology, and above all, how to embrace life fearlessly. The only problem is, is that Jeannette’s dad has a drinking problem that not only affects him, but also affects his family. Everyone views Jeannette and her family as dirty and poor and now Jeannette is at an age where she understands that this shouldn’t be her life and she knows that she can’t keep living like this. When Jeannette enters high school, she felt that she had finally belonged to something for the first time. She had started to work for her school newspaper and Jeannette really enjoyed this job because for once she felt popular at her school because she got to take pictures of students and even attend football games. She now feels that this is a good time in her life where she gets the opportunity to live the life she has always wanted. Jeannette decides that she wants to move to New York with her older sister Lori because she notices how successful Lori is after leaving the life with her parents. I am curious to find out what she does or how she does it.

The Glass Castle
As I continue see Jeannette maturing throughout the story I look back from where I am now to the very beginning of the book where Jeannette is fully matured and grown and that she is very successful and has a great job. She seems like a solid person and I think she is experiencing a happy time in her life. I would for sure expect Jeannette to turn out just like her parents because she starts following their steps and actions at such a young age. This started at the age of three! From the beginning of the Glass Castle, the author tells us that Jeannette is a successful lady now and is experiencing a good moment in her life. But I am excited to see how she does it and steers away from her parent’s values. I really look forward to what she does but as of now I see her actions and thoughts becoming worse from her looking up to her parents. I again wonder if Jeannette’s parents have drinking problems or issues with drugs which is why they are bad influences. I hope the author gives me a huge surprise as I read the upcoming chapters because I am kind of getting sick of reading about all of the problems that are going on and I hope I can solve the reason for Jeannette’s parent’s behaviors.
The Glass Castle
Jeannette’s father is swearing so much now. He seems that he also isn’t caring as much about his kids than he used to when they were younger. Jeannette’s father isn’t just using the basic swear words either. He is also using very raunchy and very sexual words. The worst part is, is that he is using these terrible and sexual words towards Jeannette’s mother. The kinds of swear words that he uses is very offensive and this shows a very immature side to him which worries me. A part in the story that I have recently read showed Jeannette’s father what I call a type of abusing, Jeannette’s mother. The father is very upset with Jeannette’s mom for a dumb reason and he takes it way to far. Jeannette’s mom gets so furious and upset that she runs away which causes Jeannette’s dad to chase her with the car. This is very childish to me. After awhile he finally catches his wife and he physically drags her from her legs and throws her into his car. To me I feel that something isn’t right in their relationship. The weirdest part is that the next day Jeannette’s mom forgets about the whole situation as if nothing has happened.
The Glass Castle
Throughout the book I am noticing that Jeannette’s dad is starting to become more threatening towards Jeannette and the rest of her family, especially Jeannette’s mom. Jeannette’s dad is also using many more swear words as Jeannette and her brother start to mature. But still they are still only six and ten years old. From reading this book makes me think about how lucky I am to have a well rounded family where there is no fighting going on. Jeannette hasn’t really noticed how strange her parents are and how bad they are as role models but I have been noticing that as she gets older throughout the book, she is becoming more aware of her parents actions. Jeannette feels of though her parents are so wonderful and the sad thing is, is that she is still too young to notice which is teaching her the wrong things in life. As you grow older in life you learn many new things from many different people, but your parents are usually the people who teach you the most and give you the most advice in life. I am anxious to see Jeannette keep maturing through the book. I wonder if she will get into any serious trouble because I am noticing her being more of a trouble maker.
